World War II took place all over the world because different allies had battles all over. In the European theater there was Germany, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Russia, and England.

In North Africa there were battles between the British and Germans.

Between the Japanese and the Americans there were battles in the Pacific theater on islands such as Bougainville, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. There were also battles at sea.
