which is better and why?

dancing is always much better,cause its the "music" ... and its so much fun to do it!! what could burn as much calories and be so much fun?

It really all depends on the type of dance and/or the intensity of the jog coupled with the factor of time. Ultimately no better or worse exercise can be determined from merely comparing the two forms of physical exertion without more details. Calories are determined by the intensity of the exercise performed in relation to the duration in which it was performed.

Hence slow dancing for an hour, will not yield the same cardiovascular benefits nor burn the same number of calories as a faced pace jog for only half an hour. Conversely a slow jog, almost akin to a walking pace, may be less beneficial in terms of caloric expenditure and cardiovascular conditioning than a fast pace dance routine you see in many aerobics classes.

So there is no clear-cut answer. If you really need to decide between the two, choose an exercise that you can do with moderate intensity and still enjoy. Ultimately what you relish is what you will stick with, and it is what you stick with that should be the primary consideration in what exercise you should choose.

At one time in my life I lost 40lbs in 4 to 5 months just jogging and maintaining a low calorie diet.

Jogging is better because it tones and strenghten you, plus the pure rush and sensation you get from jogging is amazing.

jogging, because you are constantly moving at speed non stop. dancing is more fun.

dancing much more energy put into something you enjoy doing
and it's fun
you can dance to all types of music
