I typically take a shower twice a day, once in the morning, and once in the afternoon or evening after coming home from school, work, or practice.
I've been told that this actually is bad for me, taking a shower more than once a day. Is this true, and if so, what health risks are there in this?

i wouldn't say there are any major "health risks" to be concerned about. It just dries out your hair and skin. If you shower twice a day, I'd only wash my hair once. Then just moisturize your skin, especially in the colder months as that tends to dry out your skin anyway. BUT, you're a guy so you probably don't even care about moisturizing hehe! peace

I shower twice a day too and i dont think there is anything wrong with it. There is such a thing as excessive cleanliness but i would think that would only be if it was over twice a day. I have one in the morning and one before bedtime. Noone has ever told me it is wrong, but if you do shower too much it can dry out your skin so using moisturiser would prevent that.
I just make sure my showers are short. This has nothing to do in relation to your situation but i always keep my showering as short as possible as well without trying to compromise my cleanliness. The reason for this being so much water is used and wasted from showering and Aussie is currently in a 6 year drought. I dont want to be responsible for giving Sydney a lesser water supply lol.

I don't think there are any health risks,
I shower in the morning and after the gym, so I'm in the twice a day boat as are you.
I just get dry skin if I don't put lotion on afterwards

It isn't necessarily bad for you, however, if you take long hot showers, this can dry out your skin!! (Especially during the winter!) Just use a less harsh soap, maybe one with skin moisturizers. I think most folks who have been physical at all during the day do shower before bed!!

The only problem people generally run into with multiple showers a day is stripping all the natural oils from their skin. If you aren't experiencing excessive dryness, you should be fine with your two showers a day.

There's no health risks. If you have dry skin, it'll tend to make it drier by removing your body's natural oils. Ditto with your hair if you are shampooing twice a day. Fortunately the cosmetic industry has thoughtfully provided us with thousands of lotions and conditioners to allow us to wash as frequently as we like.

Why would it be bad for you? Next week the latest thing will be that it will be bad if you don't take three showers. Ignore the advice and follow your own habits.

the second shower should be a very quick one without a lot of scrubbing and or the use of wash cloths so you do not take off to much oils your body does need.
so if you really go over board on the second washing you could over dry your hair and body way to much..
but it should be OK if you do a quick one and do not use utensils to help clean..
good luck
