i need to build a catapult no greater than 1.5-meter X 1.5-meter X 1.5-meters for physics. i cant buy a kit. It will be launching ballons. no motors or any type of fuel may be used. It must have a trigger that realeases the projectile. Any ideas? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I hope it will be launching WATER balloons, because air-filled balloons have too much air resistance for their mass to be thrown by ANY catapult.

I would recommend bungee cords for the catapult, becayuse they have a very strong spring coefficient and they are very strong and widely available.

A watermelon would be fun to catapult (or a canteloupe, if a watermelon is too heavy.

Go to punkinchuckin.com and look at the picture gallery. These are made to throw pumkins but you get some ideas and scale it down.

go to the lumber yard, or Home Depot and just buy some wood.
