I'm going to my first Nascar race on Saturday and I am not sure when the actual race starts. Gates open up at 8:00Am but I don't want to get there until before the actual race. Does anyone know what time that takes place?

There is allot to see and do before the race your best bet is to get there at least an 2 hours before the race starts..they open the gates that early brcause some drivers sign autographs but you have to be there ASAP for your favorite driver and it is awful crowded ..every team has at least one soviener truck to get them..HAVE FUN...been to Chicagoland plenty of times for the race weekend

Here is what you need to do... plan on being at the track by noon... but if you are coming from the city come earlier. all westbound PIR Traffic will be directed to take the Estrella parkway exit and it can take forever to get through. what direction are you coming from? Email me and I can give you some helpful tips... Im in Buckeye now but last race I was living @ 35th ave and dunlap, and let me tell you its a pain. Also, plan on sticking around for a while after the race... there are only a few ways in and out of PIR. either way the race starts at 1:30pm

See above for the time.

A couple of things - be sure you allow enough time to get there and park. Even though it's a Busch race, it may still be VERY busy.

Also, you may want to leave time to wander around the track - there will be lots of semi trailers with merchandise (drivers, manufacturers, NASCAR, etc) and it's fun to meander through and browse, IMHO.

There will also be pre-race stuff going on that you can watch, so getting there a little early is preferable to getting there a little late.

Have fun!!

you actually have no choice...if you don't leave until the start of the race you won't get it at all. So it's either suck it up and get there early in the morning or miss the race.

starts at 2 but go early so you can have a place to park. they got all kinds of things for you to do when you get to the track so you won't be bored or anything. i went to nc in the fall and thoses races never started til 7 and i was always there by noon so i could geta good place to park.
