(If it's not called Velcro in America, I don't know what it is, but you must know the stuff - it comes in two halves, one scratchy with little hooks and one smooth and fuzzy, and you use it to stick things together.)
I love it, and I have a favourite half (which I might reveal after I get some answers), but I want to know which side you prefer, and why?
As much detail as possible please!

OK, my turn.
Shyboy: WRONG answer. I love the scratchy side, as I'm so smooth and fuzzy myself. Plus I like a little bit of roughness against my skin. Just a tiny hint of pain to heighten the pleasure (that's not too kinky, is it?)
Oh, and FallFriend, yes I do,
so thank you :-)

I meant it both literally AND metaphorically. I actually do love Velcro itself, and feeling the scratchiness on my fingers.
Great answers, everyone!

OK Shyboy, point taken! I suppose the 'stuck together' is the important part. ;-)

Scratchy, actually. Isn't that weird? It's because it isn't really scratchy in a random way, but perfectly formatted- I love to feel it, run my fingers over it.
Wow, this is a really weird question, and the fact that I have an equally weird answer makes me feel very kooky. Lol.

Hahaha! Great question! I never really thought about it before, but I think I like the rough side. I like how simple the whole concept is but the rough side is what does all the work. The fuzzy side just sits there while the rough side has to hook on and stay there with its little barbs. I appreciate the intricacy and the metaphorical nature of the rough side of the velcro. Cheers! Oh and one more thing, I hope the phantom abuse reporter doesn't get me, but if your avatar really looks like you, you're a cutie-pie!

I like the scratchy side. I like things a bit on the rough side. The scratchy side will sometimes stick to other materials. The smooth side always slides off everything unless you have a scratchy side to put it up against.
We do call it Velcro in America.
I like the question.

Well, I do like the fuzzy side, but the scratchy side can be nice every once in a while...

One lovely summer day in 1948, a Swiss amateur-mountaineer and inventor decided to take his dog for a nature hike. The man and his faithful companion both returned home covered with burrs, the plant seed-sacs that cling to animal fur in order to travel to fertile new planting grounds. The man neglected his matted dog, and with a burning curiosity ran to his microscope and inspected one of the many burrs stuck to his pants. He saw all the small hooks that enabled the seed-bearing burr to cling so viciously to the tiny loops in the fabric of his pants. George de Mestral raised his head from the microscope and smiled thinking, "I will design a unique, two-sided fastener, one side with stiff hooks like the burrs and the other side with soft loops like the fabric of my pants. I will call my invention 'velcro' a combination of the word velour and crochet. It will rival the zipper in its ability to fasten."
Mestral's idea met with resistance and even laughter, but the inventor 'stuck' by his invention. Together with a weaver from a textile plant in France, Mestal perfected his hook and loop fastener. By trial and error, he realized that nylon when sewn under infrared light, formed tough hooks for the burr side of the fastener. This finished the design, patented in 1955. The inventor formed Velcro Industries to manufacture his invention. Mestral was selling over sixty million yards of Velcro per year. Today it is a multi-million dollar industry.
Not bad for an invention based on Mother Nature.

Nice metaphor, I thought you meant literally at first!
I start off fuzzy, then get rough (I scratch sometimes), then the roughness of her makes me go all fuzzy again, then her rough side gets fluff caught in it and goes fuzzy too.
Make of that what you will....

Are you really gonna make me choose? Both halves are great in their own respects. What is left to say, one side is soft, the other is a lil more ruff and sometimes ruffness is appreciated.
