If President Bush had announced it before the elections the demcrats would have said it was a political strategy and also it would have sent a message to the troops that He was doing it for political gain instead of doing it because it was the right thing to do. I think he was mainly thinking of the troops who are effected most by it when he made the decision. He should have done it months ago and then it wouldnt have looked so much like a political move and would probably have helped in the elections. But thats how President Buch does things. He doesnt look at polls or public oppinion to make his decisions. He just does what he thinks to be the right thing, sometimes right and sometimes wrong.

I am going to give you an understatement answer, George Bush is not very smart. But Karl Rove is, and he should have figured this move out, Rummy would have taken one for the gipper. As it is he was just fired. Either way, I do not see it getting any better, just another Bush cronie appointee. Keeps going like it is and Bush gets his wish, we will be fighting muslems over here. I got plenty of ammo, bring it on.

Bush is a very loyal man. That's why he surrounds himself with loyalists. So- it's not within his nature to fire people unless he really has to. Since he wasn't sure that the Dems would take over- he tried to 'stay the course' as long as possible (and not admit any fault).

Now that you've got a Democratic majority leader in the house- it had the potential to get very ugly with all the investigations they could have demanded. Now- with Rummy out, it significantly lessens the exposure.

He hadn't screwed up enough yet. He gave him a little more time, now he can get his medal of honor.

It would have. That's exactly why it couldn't have been announced at that time. All of the liberal democrats would have cried that he's trying to affect the election.

Sometimes, you have to do the right thing. Not just win a popularity contest.

They didn't want to admit any fault. They abandon anybody in their party that the country doesn't agree with. Look at poor, poor Katherine Harris!

Why do you care, then? Why are you still so angry and offensive? Apparently, that is your nature rather than a reaction to the situation. Too bad.
