MSG is a flavor enhancer. McDonald's uses it because they think that it will form a more positive experience in the mind of their customer. If the customer likes the taste of their hamburger, they will come back for more. It's purely business--they haven't given any thought to the fact that MSG causes brain seizures deep within the brains of animals like the Rhesus monkey. MSG also makes a person more likely to gain weight.

I always did my own cooking and now I'm glad that I did. We were never in the habit of eating out - maybe once or twice a year. We always bought half of a beef and froze it. We knew who raised the beef and how the cows were range feed. The cattlemen are being and have for a long time - run out of business and replaced with feed lots. They are utterly despicable. We would buy our pork locally and I know not everyone could or can buy their meat from local farmers. Now we haven't a choice. We get Meals-On Wheels - they are tasty and I know they buy fruits and veggies locally when in season. It's a sad state that we are in. How can we really know - how our food is handled? Just hope and pray - the food growers and handlers have our best interest at heart. DeeJay. Additional information: I heard from others - how the young ones working and flipping hamburgers would spit on the hamburgers before they turned them over and how they kept a hand towel in their armpit for wiping up.

Because they don't care if people get braintumors from their food and actually, this keeps the medical professionals working. The Ronald McDonald house is their way of dealing with the guilt. Why are all their buns made of kidney stone and cancer causing white flour? Why is the oil they fry their food in made of pre-plastic(hydrogenated oil is the same thing that tupperware is made of when they take it one step further)

They don't. Here's a list of ingredients in all McDonald's food:

However, when you go to websites of how to make the burgers, they list msg as an ingredient. And they do use it in the chicken filet, eggs, and sausage.
