To the people saying he resigned... at every instance in the past where there have been calls for his resignation, he has said that he was there for as long as the President would have him there.

Therefore, he was asked to resign. At best, it was his decision, but Bush obviously didn't care to have him around anymore, otherwise, he wouldn't have accepted his resignation.

I honestly believe he was planning to resign long before this election, because he knew what was coming. Its a little better to resign than get fired. High end Democrats and Republicans alike were rallying against him.

He was a sacrifice to try and save Georgie and others a$$. This is just a political maneuver, it's not because Georgie thought he was an incompetent (which he is, but inept Georgie cannot tell the difference).

he tried to resign twice before but bush wouldn't have it...why this time? right after saying that he's in till the end?
