You want simple answers, but it's hard to understand what exactly you're asking.
If you can't save the dvd because of protections related to copyright problems, then use smartripper. This software copies the dvd to your hard drive, removing all copyright blocks.
If, then, the amount of disk space is too big, you can shrink the dvd with dvdshrink or, even better, dvd2one (easier to use). There's no real loss in quality.
The dvd, so reduced in size, can now be copied to a normal dvd (4.7 GB) with a program like Nero.
Simple enough? I hope so.

Download Anydvd and Clonedvd2 from the link below they have a 21 day trial if you like it I can give you a link for a crack version. But all you do is after runing the software is pop in the dvd and anydvd will decrypt it and clonedvd2 will burn it to your hard drive.

If you want to copy a DVD disc to your hard drive you should use a program like FABDVD Decryptor(just google it). This program gets rid of any copy protection and save it to your hard drive. You can then use a burn program like nero to burn another copy to disc.

You need software to rip (copy) the dvd to your computer. Try http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/ where you can download the software to do it.

It is illegal to make copies of copyrighted material and most dvds have encryption to stop you doing this. Some softwares have ways around this though.
