Incumbent senator on the verge of presidential nomination loses his seat because of Macaca slur, is this the pinnacle of self inflicted problem in the history of politics??

It was a slip of the tongue indeed the first time, but he said Macaca twice. The second instance was well after the first one towards the end of his speech. You can check it out in Google Video or Youtube.

He was just filming him, that's not harassment. Please tell me how was he harassing him which deserved him to be called Macaca

allen's mouth and his character (or, more accurately, his lack of character) are his undoing...but it is freaky...at the beginning of the summer, some pundits figured he had a 50% chance of becoming the next gop presidential nominee, and now his chances of holding onto his seat are slim...couldn't happen to a more deserving guy

The guy was following him around to harass him.
He should have called the little sissy coward worse than he did.
(If Allen had been a Democrat, no one would have said a word. The News Media is still a powerful force for the Democrats.)

Yes... I gotta hand it to the media for overplaying this one. I'm a liberal myself, but I can see that it was just a slip of the tongue from Allen.

Quite personally, I didn't much mind his stay
