If I had to raise cash, I would first try to sell stuff on Ebay. I have a lot of books that I could get rid of if I had to. I would also sign up, if possible, at a place that hired day laborers. The job would be miserable, but at least I'd get cash, and I'd be able to walk away from it any time I wanted to. Also, I don't own jewelry, but anyone who did could probably get cash for it at a local pawn shop. Also, if someone had a musical instrument they didn't need, a music store would possibly give cash for it. A music store that accepts used CDs would also be a good source for cash, as well as a used book store for books.

Quick money...hock jewelry.
Sell your household stuff on eBay.
Head to the nearest freeway off-ramp with a piece of a cardboard and a Sharpie...

...if all else fails...get a job.
