Orion vs Mongul?

Mongul has the edge in strength, Orion has the edge in mobility. Orion also has the Astro-Force, which would enable him to strike at Mongul at range, while his mobility might enable him to avoid being struck by the energy blast Mongul emits from his chestplate (I think it's a device.)

Orion SHOULD be able to win this one. However...

There is a problem. It is his temper. Orion has always had to struggle, with the help of Mother Box, to control his savage bloodthirstiness-- the heritage of Darksied coming out. If Orion tries to take Mongul hand to hand, I am afraid that he might not come out on top. Mongul has been shown to be a match, or more than a match for Superman.

I don't know whether Mongul is still active, as Superman said (at the end of the special "For the Man who Has Everything" ) that he was going to drop Mongul into a black hole. I don't know whetrher this is considered canonical or not.

Incidentaly, it is posssible that the Orion/ Darkseid relationship was the model for the Luke Skywalker/ Darth Vader relationship. Both heroes must struggle to prevent losing control, both wield a 'force', neither knew who his true father was, both tried to deny it when it was revealed, etc. See Jeff Rovin's Encyclopedia or Super Heroes [Facts on File Publications] for more on this.

Hmmmmm..... I think Mongul would win.

But Orion does have his flying sled with all those KEWL gadgets.
