I'm sorry, but let me give you more info. The house in San Diego, and I have this shiver whenver we here "cracked slab" and assume its going to be expensive. I called a few concrete companies and they say that I should use a resin-epoxy injection and those do it yourself kits cost around 100, but the professional stuff they use cost at least $1200 with installation. The crack seems deep and 1/4 inch scares me half to death. I want to give my wife and I peace of mind and I don't think caulking it or just filling it will help. Won't it expand and retract due to weather and soil moisture. Any help is greatly aprreciated. Thanks, David

There's concrete patching material that comes in a tube you use with a caulk gun available at stores like Menards, Lowes, Home Depot.

Purchase a bag or an already mixed concrete mix (make sure the mix is not one with much more than sand in it-in other words do not buy something that will have pebbles in it) mix this (if dry mixx) with plenty of water and make a slurry. Pour this slurry down ito the crack until it fills up. If it settles into the crack you have filled the entire crack and it will surface up. As this cures you have taken care of the problem. The secret is to slurry it all the way down to the ground surface which is usually soil underneath your slab. This should take care of the problem unless you are in an area that is continually moving.

go to lowe's or handy dan or local hardware store and buy the recomended concrete patch in a bucket ----- apply the product that the store / floor assistant says is the best for your area and what will match and blend with present concrete......do not chip out or make the crack deeper----- use a putty knife that has a stiff blade and PACK the product into the crack and let it dry for at least 2 days before walking on the patch

the crack is easy to fix but you need to find out why it cracked do you have guttering on your home? does the ground outside your house slope twards the home or away? at the bottom of your down spouts is there a drain block or tube? keep the water away from the foundation as much as possible of course real dry periods will also affect the foundation
