Space & the Universe, The Human Brain, Our Planet, the Speed of light, the human nervous system, disease, aren't we all just trying to conquer TIME, don't we all just want a moment back, a moment longer...

I think it odd, so many people want imortality, and to be God like, and yet deny the existence of a God.

Do you know the richest man, can not buy a moment, when death arrives! So, does that not make TIME the most important of things, even beyond that which money can purchase?

Time marches on, and will forever, even when your longtime gone!

LeAnne has a very good answer - however, I think the final frontier is to determine a Grand Unified Theory. With the solution to "everything", it wouldn't be much of a step further to explore parallel universe, different realities and worlds, time, the Big Bang, etc.

I think the the Grand Unified Theory would give us the ability to explore, and answer, all questions regarding everything cosmological and would go a long way to answer some theological and philosophical questions.

No fear, however, I believe that humans, as a species, will self-destruct (and probably most other species on earth) before the GUT is developed.

More often than not, it refers to the exploration of the universe.
Given the distances involved and the incomprehensible size, it's very unlikely that we will ever "finish" our exploration. Hence, it's final in the sense that we will never finish the task.

In a more philosophical sense, our final frontier maybe trying to find the answers to the age old questions concerning our purpose in this vast universe.
