OMG! Someone else who's as bad as me! :) I once rescued a pigeon and a seagull... and that's not counting the fact that I rolled my car over a rabbit that hopped out in front of me!!!

First off... oats & water is probably not the best thing to do. The oats can expand causing stomach pain. Not sure if they'll expand enough to actually rupture it or not (I know rice can)... I'd just give the little guy some birdseed, veggies, dry cereal (not the sugary kind), etc....and water of course.

I would try looking up a wildlife rescue place in your area. Your local phone book might have something, or call your local animal shelter and ask for info on one. Most areas have SOMETHING. If nobody knows... last ditch attempt would be the www. search "wildlife rescue, XX" (XX= name of city/county you're in).

OR... if it seems to be doing alright (not in need of care)... you can hang onto it for a few days, make sure it's surviving, then release it in a field somewhere (preferably away from homes).

Chances are he won't last long in the wild with only one eye anyway... but there's not much else you can do. They're not safe to keep as pets... they can carry too many diseases (whereas pet mice have been captive bred, so haven't been exposed to them... supposedly).

Good luck. Wish I had something better for ya.

Take him far from homes, maybe to a park. Release him in thick grass or brush where he can find cover. I'd also wait for a nicer day to do it.

Not much you can do if he's been hurt. Just avoid stressing him. Keep his cage in a darker quiet place. Make sure the tupperware has a ventilated lid.
