It won't drain. It will fill, soak, and spin but when it comes to the wash cycle it stops and then makes a humming noise until it shuts itself off. The machine is level. I have already drained the water, checked and cleaned the drainage hose and then tried it again. It still won't drain.

Thanks for the help.

I had this happen to me on my Kenmore and replaced the water pump for under $60.00.
It took a few hours but I got the job done and saved myself over $100 in labor.
Now it's good for another 15 years.

repairclinic.com works like a charm for finding the part

Did you have something caught between the door glass and seal ie. clothing ? if so that would cause a bad leak, try it again making sure that there nothing caught. If the problem is still there ,then the chance's are the door seal may be split, or another problem Hotpoint washer dryers suffer with is the dryer ducting coming loose on the tank, this will cause a sever leak. If its a few years old then it could be cheaper to replace the whole machine. Just read your question again and see its 2 yrs old, If the problem was not cloths caught, then i'd throw it away and buy a new machine.

The drain pump might be bound up with string or maybe a shoe lace. The wash motor is probably good but the timer might be the problem.

Depends on what brand , but before you go replacing timers motors & lid switches, Make sure the wires to the motor are secure and wires going it the timer are secure.....Repairclinic.com will guide you in the right direction.

It's broke! Probably a bad pump or timer. Call Sears.
