How does it work? Im assuming they dont get your clothes wet or it wouldnt be called dry cleaning...Do they steam it? Is it really sanitary or just very nicely folded?

I worked for a laundry-mat years ago and we had Dry Cleaning machines, that had a liquid called Perc in them. They looked just like a washing machine and the clothes were cleaned in this liquid and then the same machine would dry them also. When all the laws about the enviorment changed, all those machines were done away with and only the businesses that had proper ventilation were allowed to have them plus they have strict laws about storing and disposing of the liquid. I believe they still do it the same way, mixing every ones stuff together, sorting the darks and lights, some steaming is done on silks and sweaters that have sequins and stuff on them. Then if the items need pressing they also do that. Its a tough business, hard work, and not much room for any errors, its also very costly. I try not to buy anything that says dry clean on it.

they actually use a petroleum product to get the spots out, then they steam iron the clothes.

Ps, I prefer to wash my stuff whenever possible, but I do have my silk dry cleaned. I think the steam is what freshens them...

I think they steam it. Have you ever seen the Dryel commercials? If you haven't you can buy Dryel and dry clean yourself. With Dryel you just place your garments in the bag with a dryer typer sheet (similar to a dryer sheet, only bigger) zip the bag, put it in the dryer and steam clean it.
