When people vote for Democrats they are making a statement. The American people want change because the truth is they've been shortchanged by the Washington Republican agenda of corruption, cronyism and incompetence. Republicans in Washington have forgotten that they are here to serve the American people, not line their pockets and cater to the special interests. Americans overwhelmingly realize that what the Republicans are offering is a divided America, not a better America. They are tired of the divisiveness, the distractions and the distortions. They are tired of the culture of corruption that Republicans have brought to Washington, D.C. They are tired of a White House that refuses to be honest about important questions of national security, and they are tired of a Republican Congress that steadfastly refuses to hold President Bush's administration accountable and that simply ignores Americans' true priorities of real national security, jobs, healthcare and education. And, as we saw in this week's elections, Americans are tired of the Bush-Rove politics of division.

Democrats believe that the American people deserve better. Americans believe that they deserve the truth and that the truth will make our country safer and stronger. By refusing to tell the truth, Republicans in Washington the have made our country weaker. Democrats believe that by telling the truth and uniting our country, we can do better.

I don't know, but I do know that in less than 24 hours after they were voted into office around the country thereby giving the Republicans a "thumping", the country is already better off. Rumsfeld would still be if office if they would have thought the Republicans would carry the election. This way, they hope to put off an congresssional inquiries into Rumsfeld.

That the system of checks and balances our forefathers set up needs to be in place. Notice how the arrogant attitude of the president has been replaced with one of bipartisan cooperation for the sake of the best interests of the people? That's because we sent a loud and clear message through our votes that this is not a dictatorship. What is going on in your head?

we want a change, it's time. political party does not dictate who is qualified for a particular job. the unfortunate thing about this time in our history is that many people don't even consider candidates because of their political orientation - even if they are obviously the right person for the job. THAT is what it should be about...not party line. It should be about who is best for the job.

absolute power corrupts absolutely. when one party has all the power, corruption happens, no matter what party has the power. that is why our founding fathers designed our government the way they did - to enable checks and balances, to ensure no one party gets too big with power and forgets what their job is supposed to be. when one party has all the control, checks and balances don't exist.

Right now many people have family members overseas fighting yet another war that isn't ours to fight and they want them home. In their eyes the Republicans put them there, and that isn't far off. Wouldn't you vote for someone who promised to bring your child, sibling, parent, spouse, or friend home again, and soon? Also, though I am a Republican, George Bush is not exactly a shining example of what we want in the President's position. He makes all (R)'s look like idiots.

End the war, stop overspending, stop corruption (well at least reduce it), as mentioned stop this B.S. trickle down crap and put it in their hands. I believe F.D.R. settled that in the Depression. Importantly, increasing minimum wage to keep pace with inflation and putting a effective check and balance on the Republican party.
