F#kc that, don't relax, you need to focus, right now you are choking, when you shoot layups you need to go up like no one is around you and just focus on getting the ball on the glass. You need to play with confidence and under control....You will be fine.

I'm going to answer the second part of your question about possibly embarrassing yourself. Just do it. Yes, you might miss the layup and yes, someone might steal it from you. So what? That will happen to everyone. You must make lots of mistakes in order to learn from them and get better. The more you practice the more experience and confidence you will gain. Before you know it, you will be playing well and with confidence. If you are confident your mistakes won't look embarrassing at all. Hold your head high and keep playing. Then your next good shot will look like a real winner. Get out there and kick some basketball butt! GO!!

Well If you keep missing those layups let the pressure go away if you are feeling them and just pretend you are by yourself practicing and if you are not feeling it try playing other positions outside the zone or use the backboard and dont overpower it when using the backboard and pretend you are gently kissing someone and you dont want to kiss the person hard you do it softly. Hope that helped :)

take it easy and slow, if u rush u would likely miss a layup so what i would do is set where im goin to do my 2 step then shoot softly in the middle of the square and you should get it in every time. gd luck

Take a deep breath, relax, and pretend your just playing ball with your friends (not at a tryout).

Remember to use the box on the backboard and use some touch. I was taught to think there was a string attached to my elbow to my knee, but we practiced it so it may not help you. Touch is key.

relax...let it come naturally. I think you are pressing to much. Try to do something relaxing before the tryouts. Preferably the whole day..Get you mind off of it..

Get a good night's sleep - make sure you have something on your mind except basketball before you settle in for the evening. Don't "sweat" it - you'll do fine!
