It is about this young guy in London who is in love with this girl and captures her. He is kinda crazy and keeps her in his basement. Feeds and all that until one night she tries to escape and then they fight which results in him gettin hit with a shovel. I swear if ya give me the right answer I will Give ya Best Answer. Fits your desciption except that the house he keeps her in is in the country.
A great movie. Remade in 2000 but I havent seen that one.

I think your talking about the movie "The Vanishing" There was an English version (british guy) and an European version (Europian guy). But the specific one your talking about is the American version of the vanishing a.k.a. the better one with the alternate ending
