A vocal eliminator.

You can do the same thing with a good equalizer. All you have to do is start on the center channel and turn it all the way down, then work your way out in both directions turning off each channel until you no longer hear the vocal track. The vocal track is usually recorded on the center track of the recording.

I hope this all helps

normally songs are "laid down" (recorded) in different tracks, and then all mixed together, to get the whole song, which you hear on a CD, radio, whatever. your best bet on getting a song without lyrics is probably to look for a karaoke version of it, or have a sound specialist or mixer try and remove the vocal track. hope that helped.

Jam961 is exactly right. If you trying to do it from a pre-recorded version, gotta use a big EQ.
