I am Canadian and wish to go to Cuba with an American friend. If we both fly to Cuba via a Canadian airport with fellow Canadians, will my American friend be allowed to enter Cuba?

yes, your friend can get into Cuba, the problem with going to Cuba lies within the US not with Cuba. Castro wants your money. HOWEVER, you will be forced to exchange your US $$ for Cuban money which basically has the same value outside of Cuba as Monopoly money... so only exchange what you'll think you need. And yes American money is highly valued, after they take their 20% exchange fee, that US $$ goes straight into Castro's hands.

Yes, as long as he/she flies from Canada.

And contrary to what other people have said, American dollars are highly valued in Cuba.

the way I understand it - Cuba does not care where you came from, it is the US who, when they see the Cuban stamp in yor friends passport - may not let them back in to the US.
