I had a natural child birth. No medication no epidural. I wanted it that way. I'm not going to tell you that it didn't hurt because it did, but you don't have to yell and scream. People see think that is what you do when you have a baby and you don't have to. I did tear because I just wanted to push that didn't hurt. What hurt the most was the stitches that was worse than the labor. It doesn't take long for them to do it though. After that I felt no pain. I took a shower put my clothes(actual clothes not a gown and robe). I felt great. Once it's over. It's over. The stitches did bother me if I moved a certain way though. Millions of women give birth everyday that don't recieve any medications. It's not as bad as it seems.

YES, I delivered both of my children with Natural Childbirth -- but I can assure you that I Asked for (and got!) the Epidural -- which helps tremendously with the final stages of labor.
As far as the stretching for the head to be delivered -- the OB does watch the delivery closely -- and if you are too tight -- there is an incision made to help you have the space to deliver comfortably -- and because if you do tear during childbirth -- the chances of your healing correctly after the birth are much, much less.
So although I was in labor for between 13 and 19 hours of time, I can say that I was able to deal with the issues of the pain and contractions -- mainly because I took my Lamaze Classes (Childbirth classes) and was well informed by all who taught the classes what the stages of labor were, they checked me constantly (especially when the head was starting to drop and My cervix was opening), and that also is quite a comfort.
The only thing I can complain about -- was that when I went into the delivery room, they had me leave my glasses behind ... and when they held up the child and said "Look at your beautiful baby" -- I couldn't even focus on the baby -- or see the sex -- mainly because I am THAT nearsighted!

If you are that worried about the pain, maybe you shouldn't go natural. You can get an epidural and it won't hurt. You may feel pressure, but you shouldn't feel pain.
Yes, child birth hurts. It's supposed to hurt. But the result is well worth the pain.
I have given birth 3 times- 2 live births, one still birth. Both my live births I had an epidural. Let me tell you, it's so much better that way. I didn't feel a thing, but the pressure of the contractions. No pain, no pressure from pushing until the head popped out. It was easy. With my first girl, I had 6 stitches I think. But after the baby is born and you are holding them, looking at them, you pretty much forget what the doctor is doing down there and don't notice the stitches. With my second, I only had 3 stitches, and she was double the size of my first.
The human body is an amazing thing, and a woman's body is meant to stretch and give for the birth of a child. It is painful, but the pain goes away and then you forget how bad it was. I don't even remember the pain- how it felt- now, I remember I was in pain, but not the pain itself.

Of course natural childbirth hurts A LOT. Epidurals do not hurt at all if done properly, though you may still feel pain and discomfort from labor (it's nothing like the full pain). If you're worried about tearing, which I was, you can do some stretches. I don't want to describe it here, so ask your doctor. Frankly, if you're 7 months pregnant, there's nothing you can do to get out of having your babe. I would never do natural childbirth after my experiences with labor ... why would I when I can be an active participant with minimal pain ... but it is a PERSONAL decision. Just learn about the options and do what you think protects the health of your and your baby. Give it two more months of becoming a whale, and you might welcome the discomfort to begin to reclaim your body and hold the sweet baby.

Well, yes. It hurts. That's why I had an epidural(and boy was that a good choice). Talk to your doctor about pain options, sometimes it's best to go that way. If you are sensitive to pain, don't feel pressured to go natural. Moms who freak out in the delivery room can do more harm than good. There are lots of natural pain options available too. It's not too late to start a lamaze class, you could also look into giving birth in water. I wouldn't really worry about the skin splitting, you won't be worried and the tearing is usually minimal. I got stitches down there for a small tear and it's all just fine in that area. The best pain medication is education. Read alot about different options you have, talk to your doctor about your fears. Everything will be okay.

Mother of three. The doctor will give you a slight incision if he feels the baby will tear your skin and he will suture it back up once the baby is born. If the pain becomes unbearable, there is the epidural which will relieve that intense pain. Always remember, the medication is available if the pain gets too much. Don't go into this fearing this, as you do have options. All child births are different. Don't be scared, you have options for pain relief if you need them. This is the most exciting experience anyone can experience is the birth of your child. It out ways all the pain. Enjoy your new baby and congratulations!

well that baby has to come out somehow. I have had two girls and the delivery was fine. (I had an epidural though.) I am a big supporter of the epidural if possible. I did tear with my first, but once again the epidural made me feel nothing. I did get to feel the contractions, and was perfectly capable of pushing out my own girls. I am now 28 weeks pregnant with a boy, and am planning on getting an epidural. The pain is very minimal this way, I actually watched wheel of fortune, and price is right inbetween pushing. It made the experience, pain free and enjoyable. It was great. Everything will be fine, and know even without an epidural or pain killers once that baby is placed in your arms, the pain will disapear. It will all be forgoten as soon as your see your baby. congrats

It does hurt alot, I tried to be strong but as it got more intense I went with the epidural. This pregnancy I plan to give it a try without the epidural. It's only as painful as YOU think it is, some women can handle it, so good luck and try your best to have it natural. By the way, it's so painful that the tear you get down there isn't even felt, it doesn't compare to the contractions. You'll soon know what I mean. Also, the pain you feel is not really in the vagina, it's more around your lower back and abdomen. This is my experience.

Of course it is painful and it is fine to be scarred. I have had 3 babies. They first 2 in did all natural....with nothing at all because I was scarred to get pain meds or the Epidural.
With my 3 child I went in and was planning on doing it natural but for some reason the pain was too intense for me to work through, so I got the Epidural. And I loved it.
Just keep in mind that when you get in there if you can't handle the pain it is OK to ask for help....there is nothing wrong with that. At the hospital I delivered in you had to wait till you were 4 cm before you could even get the Epidural......so you can have a chance to experience both if you wanted to.
And they have new things to help so women don't rip ( but I forgot what it was called) but I am sure you will be fine.
Good luck and best wishes.

Well I know that it will hurt and the pain will be something you've never felt before, but if you use the right techniques to focus during labor and delivery then you can get through it with very minimal pain. I know that I had an epidural and felt no pain at all just a lot of pressure when it came time to push. I'd say if you are not good with pain to get an epidural because if you tense up during the contractions it hurts worse and takes longer for labor to progress. I hope this helps, but I will not lie before the epidural and using no pain meds can really hurt.
