if spring had energy stored to make it move at light speed?

well the only 'obejct' that can move at the speed of light is light itself, so we will assume that the object you are releasing is a photon.

no amout of energy can cause sufficient acceleration to make the spring move at the speed of light (without converting the spring into energy). otherwise, you will have to clarify the question.

Since the spring was not moving at the speed of light before the object hit it, it had to overcome inertia along it's entire length before it stared to move. Therefore, it has to move more slowly than the object hitting it.
