thread, can people know my ip address? i know its a sloppy question but please try to understand.

It would be hard for someone to get it without you telling them. Although.....It is possible.

The only way that I can think of for someone doing that would be to have an IP sniffer. It works like a password sniffer but for IP's. In case you dont know what that is, a password sniffer allows someone to view passwords on someones computer when a connection is made between 2 computers.

To get someones IP you need to have a direct connection from your computer to theirs. When you have a connection established (example: sending a song or image file to someone else) open your MS-DOS window and type netstat -a or netstat -n
This will list all current connections, their host names and IP addresses. Happy hunting.


If the
/whois nick_name

command is supported,it will reveal your ip address on a chat room.

If you're posting stuff to a website then the person who runs the site can see you IP address certainly, but none of the 'normal' users will have access to that information.

the web master will be abel to see it all the time But in few websites they make it available for all the people to see eachothers ip within that site
It depends where you were and do some research on that site

sure they can, you can use a program to hide it but this is usually open to all if they know how to look for or find it
