And what are your personal feelings if it should or shouldn't.

Probably, if it's not stopped in the Senate. Personally, I don't like it. If someone enters your house through an unlocked door and eats your food, should they be granted amnesty, too? Same principle, smaller scale. It gives no incentive to become a citizen and cheapens all our ancestors went through to gain citizenship.

Good to see you again...

Well, here's the thing. It will be more liberal, yes, but it will still be center-right. Most of the "Class of 2006" are right-of-center in their politics and views. I think that yes, the immigration plan has a better chance to pass now, since more people are accepting of it (remember, a lot of Democrats supported it the last time around).

My personal feelings are that, overall, this is a good thing, since the Republicans did a horrible job in coming up with a solution (read: did nothing except anger the Hispanic community in large numbers).

Overall, it's a more moderate tone that will be set in government, and I think things will end up working out in a way that most of the country approves.

I hope so.

I'm a liberal and don't like a lot of what Bush has done, but I think he's pretty close to right on this one. Perhaps this is because he was the governor of a border state, as so has seen the problem firsthand.

I don't believe we will ever entirely halt illegal immigration (any more than we've halted the drug trade) -- the law of supply and demand is too powerful. However, if we allow legal guest workers, at least we'll be able to tax them fully, and perhaps also reduce the demand for the illegal workers.

I hate to agree with the likes of Pat Buchanan ,but we need to secure the borders .
That said we might want to try the following plan .
Canada is on the alert now and is doing what it can to prevent terrorists from coming into Canada as a means to get into America .
This still means more border searches at check points in the north .
Our Southern border is a night mare and i only want to offer the Mexican people a million dollar reward to turn over terrorists .Each terrorist is worth a million bucks . I think they will be headed to Iraq and Iran and dragging them back to collect a reward .
I doubt that even one could cross that border to our south with this kind of reward and it is good for Mexican American relations.
Till those Mexican girls pop out that first baby they are just so hot we need them to come here .

Well, the word is that the majority of dems that were elected are conservative leaning like myself. I use to be a republican. So saying its gong to be a liberal Congress is perhaps a bit of a reach. Time will tell. No, I don't see his immgration bill passing.

Ya know I hadn’t thought about it but that might be the only bright spot in this election cycle. This country must have a fair Guest Worker Program and I’m afraid my fellow Republicans couldn’t see the forests for the lobbyist standing behind every tree.

I think Bush's immigration plan is worthless and shouldn't be passed.

It has more of a chance than before, that's for sure. Of course he didn't mention that because it only reminds people how awful he is.
