A windows computer will crash three or four times a year,that is with an up-to-date computer and spyware and antivirus software.
A Mac might crash once a year, if that?
If it is infected with bugs and stuff expect a crash every day

If you do weekly basic maintenance on the hard drive (clean and defrag), run a good antivirus program like Avast (www.avast.com) and keep the internal components free of dust... never.
I have 5 computers. The oldest is almost 6 years old and has never crashed.
When you are ready to buy a new system, go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. I buy all of my stuff from them, and everything is Vista ready.

I think mine's crashed (and by "crashed", I mean requiring a total reformat/OS install) three times in the past 8 years.

depends on how stable the system is and how well the hardware configuration works together ... i have one that hasnt crashed in three years .. and another one thats overclocked that crashes every now and then .

my home build has crashed 5 times since January and have had to reinstall twice all due to viruses

pc can crash many times over 6 months if not taking good care of it .have antivirus uptodate& antispyware & have a good firewall . never disable ur antivirus & firewall at all & always scan ur pc in
safemode for virus..trojans..malware..spyware..adware .
never open email you dont know who it is from . never hit on pop up links on websites & ur defrg ur pc every week. always keep a check on ur pc for r virus..trojans..malware..spyware..adware .& ur pc will not crash
