Long play (4 hours) and extended play (6 hours). These are used on VCR tapes and not CDs

An EP is like a popular single, released with a B side and a club remix. Or if the band didn't have enough material to put a full length album.

LP is Long play....EP is extended play....at least that's what it means on VCR tapes.

I always thought "EP" stood for "early press". When a band put out a few songs before the album came out.
