I have heard that America is known for having an anti-intellectual attitude, but there must be places that have anti-intellectual attitudes as well. Which countries have these attitudes and which don't?

I would say Greece has a particularly strong pro-intellectual attitude. I hear the way Greeks debate and discuss and I see how they write about both political and spiritual issues. Many Greeks value it more than money.

I agree about India being strong on intellectualism. My impression, without having lived there, is that intellectual quality is also highly esteemed in Russia, Germany and France.

I think of Australia as a place where it's not so highly valued. Aussies seem more happy with you if you are sporty and "matey", get along with others and don't give yourself airs, have fun, work loyally but then relax hard.

This is a very subjective question, but many Asian countries have strong work ethic and value education very highly. This is also the case in much of India where large numbers of people are highly educated.

I would be reluctant to say that you can find anti-intellectual societies based on education level of the people because, due to poverty, etc., many people don't have a choice.
