I agree with the appointed President, One would have to be brain damaged to match the level of incompetence of Donny Rumsfeld.

Unfortunately not many of the people answering your question will be using the same user names or finding nicer words to say about a guy who did his job well. (Such as the sarcasm by those who needed to blow off steam in angst about Rumsfeld and can't answer a simple question.)

In years to come many of these same people won't even know who Gates is. (Former CIA director from George Bush Sr's administration)... Now the current nomination to replace Rumsfeld.

LMAO - Now look what you've done!!

It takes a narrow mind not to see the good that Rumsfeld has done to protect our Country.

Mr. Rumsfeld was here when we needed him most. He has served Our country well for many years. His job was spread out way past Iraq. It may be time for him to retire, I just hope the next Secretary of Defense is as dedicated as Rummy and is his own man as Rummy is! Too bad some people can't see past their noses!

I feel just a little "dumbstruck" although it does work for me on several levels...........

I just can't quite believe how it has taken about 4 years, a couple thousand dead American soldiers, 100,000 dead Iraqis, the complaints of dozens of Generals and Pentagon officials and finally a huge and total election disaster to convince Bush that the "tough act" should have been "followed" some years ago.............

Setting yourself on fire is a tough act to follow, too. That doesn't make it intelligent.

Rumsfeld did a decent job under Nixon. Now he's just older and more bitter.

He IS a tough act to follow. We'd be hard pressed to find someone as totally incompetent--unless of course Bush or Cheney took over his responsibilities.

It's true. Rumsfeld has managed to make major changes in the military structure and manage the war. He's been doing a good job, and I hate to see him go.

Rumsfeld was so good that he will be hard to replace.
Of course.
