Math, just like any other subject, is mastered by practicing it.
That means you have to work lots of problems.
If you are assigned only the even numbered problems from your book and don't feel you understand, work some of the others. If you get stuck, bring your paper to your teacher and show him where you got stuck and ask for help.
Math concepts build on one another so practice problems consistently and you will see the results. You will go into tests feeling prepared.

In maths, only Perfect Practice will make Perfect. While a person adept in math can find shortcuts to difficult questions, the road to his level of proficiency has none of such things. Soif you wish to do well, do more!
Hope this helps=)

Try to understand what exactly the question is asking and find the best way to go about answering it. Use your resources like your textbook and notes and stuff, I tell this to my little sister all of the time and if she looks she can usually easily find the answer or how to go about solving the problem.
