I am goin to Seattle for the first time tonight. My hotel is in Tacoma but I have all day tomorrow to just hang out. What should I do? Where should I eat? Any suggestions?

I would recommend this fun day-long itinerary:

Park at and peruse the Pike Place Market. Go with an empty stomach - there are wonderful food vendors at every turn! Lots of fish-tossing, fresh produce, flowers, and unique shops that sell local arts and crafts. Also home to the first Starbucks. :)

Then walk down 1st Ave to Pioneer Square. Pioneer Square is where Seattle began. If you have time, I'd recommend taking the Underground Tour that leaves from Doc Maynard's on the corner of 1st & Yesler. It's a great way to learn about the history of Seattle in a very entertaining way. Or you might also just choose to peruse the antique shops, the book stores, etc.

Then head towards the water. I'd HIGHLY recommend taking a ferry ride to Bainbridge for the beautiful view of the city. It's a great way to relax for an hour, get a cup of coffee and enjoy the water. You can basically walk on, ride across, walk off and then walk back on (return trip is free) and come back. Here's the schedule:

I'd then finish out the day by walking back towards the Market, along the waterfront. There are some cute gift shops there and some great seafood for dinner! The parking garage for the Market is just across from the Aquarium, so you will have walked full circle.

Have a great time!!

I prefer to go to the Seattle Center first, perhaps go up the space needle...then take the monorail to downtown and walk a few blocks to the Pike Place Market...then free shuttle to Pioneer Square for the underground city tour...finally to the piers where you can take a sunset sail boat ride.

You can hang out at the pier and have lunch or dinner at Ivar's resturant.

Seattle Space needle and the Seattle Center. :]

and you can go on the monorail and the zoo also and there's a tour called "ride the ducks" where you can tour Seattle and it's also a boat ride :]

Go to Pike's Market. There's so much to keep you occupied! You HAVE to go to the French crepe place and get a #15 (strawberries, cream, and nutella- oh my!) Ask someone where it is once you're at the market.

Also you will be near the water...you could take a scenic cruise and visit the zoo and aquarium. All very fun!

1. A coffee cup-in-hand is your ticket to blending in.
2. Your money is welcome in all parts of the city. Please come again.
