It would be helpful if you had given info. on why they banned water in class.

Otherwise, have you

--Approached the school board and/or the donor/patron board if it's a private school?

--Spoken to your parents individually about this and that you want their support and why.

--Organized a meeting of parents as a group and stated to them why.

--Prepare a petition for students to sign and present to the administration.

--Consider asking parents to sign a petition as well.

--If all else fails, then yes, organize a mass protest of all students. Be aware that there probably will be negative reactions and consequences. Try to think through all the possibilities and prepare yourselves to remain committed and united for the long haul and you'll have a good shot.

Was student council actually ignored or was it just that administration didn't do what the student council wanted?

Obey the rule. If there was a good reason for allowing water in class, then I could see making an issue out of it, maybe to the point of initiating a protest of some kind. But there isn't from what I can see. It would appear you simply want it in class, not need it. And classes aren't so long that it can't wait for those times in between classes. If you are going to openly protest an issue, then save it for those times when the issue is an important one and you are truly being treated in an unjust fashion. Protesting over this issue would trivialize any future, more serious issues which might come along, and the administration might not respect your position then when you need them to due to your performance concerning this matter. I don't know if they taught you this in History class, but it's called picking your battles.

First , why was water banned? I think water in class is ok if it is not around computers. Are you all prepared to take a punishment if it is given or get your parents involved maybe you can come up with a compromise.

My daughters school allows the children to have water in class on their desk. In the warm months it gets very hot in there and there is NO air conditioning and in the cooler months it gets very dry because of the furnace. I think it is absolutely necessary. I can't see why they would ban it. I can see it not being allowed near computers but thats about it.

Go for it. There is no possible reason why water wouldnt be allowed if it spills it drys up so why the hell not. Also they are denying ur body what it needs most so if they do not allow u to drink water then hell bring vodka or anything u want and drink up!

Nah, that is weak. Bring vodka in, all 1400 of you.

But on a serious note, yes you should. Banning water is a bad and unfair idea. They should be encouraging it.

I don't think you'll get anything done there - and you won't get all those people to support your efforts.

Your best ideas is to rally parents, students, and members of the community above the schools principle. Think superintendent level.

Multiple complaints to the super will def affect what's happening in the school.

Banning water? So apparently the children are supposed to dehydrate? I think perhaps you need to get some parents involved.

Do you NEED to drink water in class? How about if each one in turn in their class ask the teacher to get a drink at the fountain because they are very thirst and have a cough?
