Not much to do in Portland?
Exactly what is it you are looking for then, as far as things to do?
There is the Lloyd Center, Washington Square and Clackamas Town Center for shopping, as well as downtown.
There are museums, art galleries, OMSI, the forestry center, and the zoo. There is usually something going on at the Rose Garden, plus some great restaurants and clubs.
Anyway, up the gorge, is Multnomah Falls, the damn and fishery. I would recommend going on the old highway, there is the crown point observation point, and its an amazing drive ... but not for the faint hearted. It is very high, and a very winding road with a lot of switch backs. After the falls, go down to I-84. If you go on up by the Dalles, you can cross over the river to the washington side and go to the Maryhill art museum, which is awesome, and the replica of Stonehenge, just a mile or so further east from that. Keep going east, and, on the Oregon side is Arlington, a tiny town, buts its a bit picturesque. Go far enough east, and you will end up in Idaho, Couer d'alene is cool.
