In addition to what he said...
Cranberry Juice - the REAL thing, not "cocktail"... and drink and entire jug of it TODAY... you need to drink a couple glasses an hr for 24 hrs or so (waking hours) I've mixed it with a little 7-up or added some sweetner if you hate the taste as I do.
The way you are sitting believe it or not - if you plop down hard - stop.
As was suggested, be sure you really clean up after sex, rinse off and use the restroom.
Wearing your pants too tight can contribute... as well as wearing thong underwear... if you are just prone to getting these you may have to switch undies and change your style:) (I don't have any idea how you dress now!:)
Lastly, and not to be gross... be sure you ALWAYS wipe front to back when you use the restroom. ALWAYS!:)
These are caused by infection obviously, so just try and be mindful of anything that could possibly introduce any bacteria to the area... one thing I like to keep with me just because I have a thing about being very clean... you can get moist towlettes that have anti-bacterial light cleanser already in them... if you keep those in your purse and maybe mid-day or twice a day clean up with one of these...
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS IS NOT TO IMPLY YOU ARE NOT CLEAN!!! Nothing of the kind, this is natural, many woman have trouble with UTI and with Yeast Infections... it's usually some little habit we don't realize... you may be more prone to getting them at this point in your life - stress can cause out immune system to slack on us, so can lack of sleep or improper nutrition... you never know - just some things to try - CAUSE I KNOW how painful these are!
About the cranberry - I know the idea of making yourself urinate MORE right now is probably not too appealing, the juice will help QUICK if you drink a bunch of it in it's natural state.

Vitamin C (which the body doesn't store) helps so add a lot of it to your diet (It's the Vitamin C in Cranberry Juice that is effective not the actual juice). Also I got UTI's a lot as a kid from frequent bubble baths and regular baths I switched to showers and one bath a week and I stopped getting them. Also if you have to pee go asap. Holding it in can cause infections. Make sure you wipe front to back and stay away from douching. If you wear pantiliners change them a couple of times a day. Try wearing your clothing a little loose too. Good luck I will pray for you.

I have the same problem. A friend told me to take concentrated cranberry sauce. I did and it helped quite a bit. My doctor says that it decreases the acidity of the urin. My doctor prescribed amitriptyline on top of that - it helps the badder to retain urin so that it does not spend as much time in the urinary tract. It is also a sedative. I take it at night. That has helped too.

Well they always say that cranberry juice can help with these infections. I have had UTI's before as well and I know how much they can hurt but usually your regular doctor can perscribe something that will tone down the symptoms pretty quickly. Good luck!

Cranbery juice is good but it is normally so full of sugar it kinda defeats it's own purpose. Try getting a cranberry juice tablet or pill this way you get the benefit without the added sugar to irritate the infection.

holding urine in too long you stretch the muscles and then it doesn't empty all the way...whats left starts an infection
Or you are wiping from back to front
or you may need to clean up after sex
anytime there is a rubbing then the bacteria goes in and causes an infection because it isn't sanitary

I know what you mean. You can take cranberry pills, or drink cranberry juice ( the puriest kind, of couse). To prevent UTI make sure that your urinate after sex, it helps flush out bacterias :) Aslo bubble baths can give your UIT 's so be careful! good luck

Definitely the cranberry juice or pills.
For the pain, various doctors have prescribed me Phenazopyridine. They are little brown pills and turn your pee orange. Sometimes the doctors offer them, sometimes you have to ask. I call them my "little brown pills of gold" and hoard them for my worst moments of pain.
Best of luck to you.
