I think he's had the message for some time now. Of course he doesn't care though. He's doing what he thinks is right.
Even with Bush, there must be some unconscious part of him that knows the way the whole thing has happened has been a mistake. You can tell by the way he's always trying to convince the public. If it was right action, there would be no convincing. He would just say what's happened, what decisions he's making, and he would just answer questions straightly.
I have to say thanks to the American public for showing the rest of the world that it's not just non-Americans that can't stand what's been happening in Iraq.
As for the president, I think he'll stick with his story til his dying day. He doesn't want to lose face.

Bush isn't thickheaded, most American people are.
Those who want the troops out of Iraq have not listened to what unbiased government officials and experts have been saying since BEFORE THE WAR STARTED. "This is going to take a long time."
Hint: Stop listening to just your party and listen to both parties. Exclude the extremists from each side and you have the true answer in what's going on over in Iraq (and any other Country for that matter) and what the difficulties would be if we just pulled out and left them to fend for themselves.
Rumsfeld resigned because he knows that with a Democratic House (and or Senate) that his actions will be completely worthless.
The man isn't stupid. He knows full well that he (or anyone else) would not be able to concentrate his efforts on the war AND his efforts with the House and Senate. That's two too many battles he's not willing to wage.

who is thickheaded. Sometimes the Military has to be used. thats what they get paid to do. Its sad that people have to die but the reality is there are people that believe all of america should be destroyed. There is technology that if the wrong person gets ahold of it they can make this come true. The only answer to stopping this is to attack the money that the use... oil. and to exhaust their current monies... keep them fighting and using their money. We dont do that there they will be in your backyard. How hard is that to understand?
by the way we arent fighting iraq, we are fighting IN iraq. Theres a big difference.

The boys will be home when we complete our mission. Running away with our tail between our legs is not going to work. We were not in Iraq or Afghanistan on 9/11 as far as I can remember anyway.Ned Lament lost ,he ran on cutting and running and Lieberman says stay the course and won.So I think the surrender our lives for peace people lost.

The new Secy of Defense and James Baker III will tell him. But it's likely they'll do a phased withdrawal of the troops over the course of several months or a even a year.

The only thing that would change Dictator Dumbya would be impeachment, conviction in the Senate and criminal court, and imprisonment. Iraq is just too profitable for Halliburton et al and the Coup.

Bush is very well aware of that....and has been for some time....but the majority of the public still feels we can't just up and leave all at once either.
Don't confuse "thickheaded" with "resolve".

Only if he allows hinself to be manipulated by the Dem's spin machine i.e. the media, just as 50% of the country has been for the last 4 years by the non-stop barrage of negativity by the Liberal media and power hungry Dems. Just because the Dems won, they did not win in landslide fashion, they squeked by in every race, so 50% of the country still supports the troops and have shown themselve to be patriotic citizens.

Unlike his predecessor, Bush was elected to lead. The President has determined the best course for this country and he will continue it, despite the people change of heart.
It's what leadership is all about, dearie. Doing the right thing despite the cries and fuss.
