If he anticipates a standard urine test, he should be all right in about a month after quitting. To be more sure, he can wait two months.
This assumes that he has quit cold turkey and does not indulge anymore at all. People have tested positive for marijuana after being exposed to second hand smoke.
I wish you friend luck. I was in his shoes 20 years ago. Ironically, I now send people off to pee in cups.

a month is usually the normal time to wait for the urine test, depends partly on the persons physique and how much they were smoking. Im not sure about a blood test, and the hair test is supposed to be like seven YEARS or so and the flushes dont work. What kind of job is it? I hope that if its some federal thing he hasnt lied about his drug use history on the application and interview. The drug use itself may not be his biggest problem then, I guess he could try the old "I didnt inhale" line. --- ok, maybe it isthree monts and not seven years, but im sure that some kind of test did go back that far.

I know that pot stays in your blood and urine for a full month. Most places do not do hair drug testing, so I wouldn't worry about that unless they told your friend they were going to take a hair sample to test, but if they did, they can detect that for 7 years.

Speaking from experience, I would have to say at least 2 weeks to 30 days. the 30 days if you want to be on the safe side. One joint leaves your system in 3 days. I wouldn't worry too much about it due to his rehabilitation. You're friend is gonna be just fine, but instead of a full time job, how about school. Education would be the best thing for him and would ensure a good future for your friend. Bills will always be there but your friend can start school and overcome all of that. good luck to both of you.

Hair is a bit more problematic than anything else. Urine and blood should be clean in a month, but the hair could be three months (before a good haircut gets rid of the evidence)

He needs to wait at least 5 weeks for the pot to clear his blood and urine. Let him know that a hair test is not accurate enough and he should not submit to one.

I have passed a drug test after only a day. Just drink lots of fluids and flush your system out. Piss tests have a certain cutoff level for THC, the more fluid, the less THC.

Urine test should be in about 2 weeks. For a hair clipping he should get his head shaved to remove excess hair. That stuff can be detected for months in hair especially longer hair strands.

Marijuana has a half-life of seven days.....which means it takes seven days for half of it to get out of your system....seven days after that, half of what was left is gone......seven days after that half of that half is gone.....and so on and so on......therefore it usually takes a month! And I"ve never heard of a drug test for a job that takes a hair sample....I'm sure theyre out there but probably for a government job or something that requires a high security clearance
