Hit The Pace Car

When Dale Earnhardt Sr. had his "episode" at Darlington where he blacked out temporarily,if the pace car driver hadn't been paying attention there would have been a terrible crash.
Big E hit the wall and headed towards the infield. He was unconscious. The pace car driver was directly in Earnhardt's path, and barely got out of the way.
I'm sure many long time fans can recall other times.

The only driver that could do this and get away from it was the late Dale Earnhardt Senior, who did give the pace car a gentle bump every now and then.

Tony Stewart & Big E are known to have given the pace car a few gentle bumps on different occasions (for the fun of it), like last week in Texas when Stewart was so dominant and bored.

The sequence in the movie - "Go and HIT the Pace Car because it's the ONLY thing you haven't hit". Is ACTUALLY based on the conversation of Harry Hyde radioing to Buddy Baker, who apparently felt he was hitting everything else out there. While on the subject "Days of Thunder", Yes the Ice Cream sequence ACTUALLY happened when Benny Parsons radioed to Harry Hyde that he was coming in due to bad handling, Hyde said, "You Can't, Were Eating Ice Cream!" Benny said he couldn't believe it as he continued with an ill-handling car!

not intentionally..that driver who would do it that way would never race again....i think once the pace was hit from behind long time ago...because they as bunched up behind the car and the lead car was hit from behind and bumped the pace car
