I'm not a DJ, but I've known a bunch. All of the answers to your questions depend on a couple things. First, what kind of dj do you want to be. Also, how good are you. Actually spinning records together is only the first step in really becoming a DJ that people (other than your friends) will listen to. You have to always pick the right music for the occasion and book gigs and meet people that will advance your career. As a first step, I'd say to pick youself up a set of turntables, a mixer, and 10 or 12 records and really get good at mixing beats together. Then book yourself to play (sometimes for free) at local bars or clubs, or dances if you're not 21. It should take off from there.

I was a DJ for 10 years. I started out by working for a mobile DJ company for 5 years, and then started my own for the next 5 years, doing weddings, school dances, corporate parties, frat parties, etc. It was a lot of fun, although I never made a lot of money. I did, however, meet a lot of people and ended up with a few girlfriends out of the deal.

I would suggest you call some of the local mobile DJ companies. They usually will have you come in for an interview. They will require you to have your own transportation, but usually provide everything else you need. You can use your own music as well as their provided ones.

I would suggest you work for someone before trying to do it on your own.

To do the club scene, you need to have some experience such as above as well.

Good luck.

But being a dj sounds like a cool idea. as for the pay it depends what kind of a dj you are. my uncle djs at partys and he gets payed a fair amount but not as much as you get payed at radio stations.

Khaled does have some money, yet no longer as much as 50, he's between the richest rappers ever. Its humorous you need to hold this up although, because of the fact i replaced into observing this stupid teach (candy sixteen) approximately Sean Kingston's 18th celebration and in 4 hours he spent $4 hundred,000 (4 hundred grand) on a motor vehicle and a few bling, yet i replaced into thinking how he replaced into so rich to bypass and do this as quickly as his album basically went gold. He did no longer even artwork up a sweat or nuthin over it. The jeweler got here in and confirmed him tha stuff and he offered it on the spot. For the vehicle (a Bentley) he went to the showroom observed the vehicle and offered it. Wow

Many wedding DJ's and others need helpers. Get a job with them to learn what to do and what equipment to buy. For some kinds of deejaying it's more about emceeing, and for some kinds it's more about music.

first thing you do is start becoming involved in the scene-im assuming your over 18 so clubs is a great place to be--meet some djs start interning at a station--no pay at first but lots of free tickets to stuff---and more importantly you get exposure--learn tecnique and get airtime---learning to run the boards is also a plus-----------
