I haven't laughed this hard at a movie in a long time. I got to go to an advance screening, and was thrilled because I had been dying to see it. I had tears in my eyes from laughter throughout a lot of the movie. The audience all shared my laughter, and was clapping and yelling throughout most of the movie.
Kudos to Steve Carrell(who I had already been a fan of). He proves in this movie his tremendous talent for comedy. He has a style that I haven't seen before. And Catherine Keener is excellent as always. Thank God there wasn't a cameo from Will Ferrell(love him, but saw him too much this summer).
There were parts of comedic genius in this movie. Partly thanks to Carrell, and partly thanks to the writing(also Carrell). The waxing scene and the speed dater with the "obvious problem" were absolutely hysterical.
I will definitely go see '40 Year Old Virgin' when it's released. My advice: go to see it for huge laughs and an incredibly enjoyable movie on top of it.

This has to be a comdey great. This is the new kind of comedy that has been hot. If you did not like this movie then I believe there is something wrong with you. So since you did not like it did you like Wedding Crashers, American Pie trilogy, Road Trip, because they all have the same type of humor. So if you like those you have to like 40 yr old. So watch it again and be opened mined.

I think it was a romantic comedy. Of course maybe I found it funny because I am in my forties.
I think the funniest part was when they were talking about her being a grandma and his friends told him that he would get a $12 check on his birthday. I don't know why, but it seemed so right on.

I found this movie to be quite hilarious, but I can see where a certain sense of humor could could find this movie boring.
I do think of it as a comedy, but I have always enjoyed "Wedding Crashers" more. If you haven't seen it, check it out. I think you'll find the humor very different and very amusing.

Only part I laughed at was when he asked if it was ok to use the magnum condoms.
I do not think of it as a guy or chick flick. I thought of it as a SNL skit drawn out to 2 hours.

Not much, actually. This movie is highly overrated. I felt like only boys under the age of 15 would laugh.
However, I did like it when Paul Rudd said that the ultrasound looked like Doppler Radar. That cracked me up!

if anything it was a guy flick, not a chick flick. I thought it was very funny, although not the end-all be-all of cinema like some of the critics said. I thought it was well written.

It was a decent movie. But i think people over exagerated about it. I didn't see it until about 6 months ago and i was so desperate to see it because of how much people thought it was hilarious and amazing. Yea, its a good rental, but wasn't amazing.

I did not think this was a comedy at all. It had crude humor and it was boring and dull. It was not worth my time or money to go and see it.
