The length of a year is based on how long it takes the earth to make one revolution around the sun. It takes about 365.25 days, so 3 years are 365 and then the 4th has 366 days to make up for the quarter-days that were not included in the previous years.
It isn't quite 365.25, though, which is why every 100 years we skip a leap year. 1800 and 1900 were leap years. However, every 400 years we have to keep the leap year instead of skipping it, which is what we did in 2000.
All that fancy juggling of days keeps us on track.

Actualy a twelve months is a littlle longer then 3 hundred and sixty 5 days! it somewhat is approximately 3 hundred and sixty 5 days and 1 / 4, so those quartes upload as much as an entire day each 4 years... it somewhat is only extra user-friendly to count huge variety days this way... My buddy celebrates on March 1st yet i assume it somewhat is optionally available...

Because a day is actually a few seconds longer than 24 hours. Every 4 yrs it adds up to a day, so they stick it in there so we don't start becoming off on the calendar. Eventually, you would have the 4th of July in snow if it wasn't done!

Every 4 years there's a celabration for frogs in the united States. It takes almost 4 years to get enough frogs together to have a full dinner of frogs legs for all the people that celebrate it.
