One of my friends wanted a horse too and needed a job. So she worked at stables till she was about 16...then she got a second job. Maybe you can work at a private stable where they will give you cash. This way you can still ride and all.

Be patient. Horseback riding is a life long sport. Soon you will be old enough to work and start saving for your own horse. By the way, the horse is the cheap part. Tack, boarding, farrier, vet, feed etc all need to be figured in. You may also want some lessons or to join pony club - it all costs money. Talk to someone in your area who owns a horse and find out what the costs are.

OK, but then how are you going to pay for boarding? Or the renovations necessary to keep it at your house? Or food? How about vet bills? You'll be working so much, you won't have time for the horse!

Why not offer to work at a stable, and instead of paying you, at the end of a certain length of time they let you adopt a horse and keep it there. As long as you keep working, you get to keep the horse. After a certain number of years, the horse is yours free & clear.

If you can't afford one, then you don't need one RIGHT NOW. You also are too young to be employed.

Trust me, I hear you! I love horses too! But you don't want the responbilities of a horse, especially at 13. What are your parents going to do with it when you go to college? While it may seem far away, it's the reality.

If you can't afford a horse now, you aren't going to be able to afford the bills that are required to take care of a horse.

if you cant afford to buy it, then your not going to be able to buy the feed. so just start saving now and maybe later you could afford one :]
