Now that prop 107 didn't pass in AZ. does that mean lesbian/gay couples can have a civil union and it has to be recognized?

No, there are laws in the lawbooks that make it illegal. But without the amendment, those laws are wide open to lawsuits. Anyone can bring a complaint forward and have those laws scrutinized and possibly wiped from the books. THEN same sex marriage will be possible in AZ.

Hopefully one or more brave homosexual couple will come forward demanding equality. Then it will have to be decided if the current laws the prohibit same sex marriage are valid and just. These kind of laws have been struck down elsewhere. I'm confident it can happen again in AZ.

No. Gay marriage - or Marriage Equality as my gay friends have asked me to say - is still illegal in AZ. No provision has been made for civil unions here.

What it does mean is that the State constitution has NOT been amended to prohibit such a thing from happening. It means all unmarried couples who are sharing domestic partner benefits from, say, government jobs, will not lose them.

I think a lot of credit has to go to Senior Citizens, who typically don't marry because they'd lose some social security benefits if they did. They tend to have a high votor turnout.

No, it just means that the subject is still up for debate.

nope, it just means that the means to make them illegal was defeated. Nothing more.
