A lot of people live like that. They live as hermits as far away with little contact with civilization as possible. It works for them. It's their life, their choice, and I bet they're happy with that. Most of us, though, can't live without human interaction.

We are meant for social interaction. We are not fully alive without intimate relationships. You may feel happy because you have no conflict in your life, but there can be no joy either. No joy, and no sorrow is not fully living. It is an imitation and a reflection of a life, not a real life lived with fullness and learning and maturing growth of character. Happiness entails overcoming, enduring, loving, engaging and growing. Then you appreciate what happiness IS.
Read Genesis 1 - Adam had the earth, planst and animals but still something was missing until Eve was created.

I think its possible(I'm actually looking forward to trying it)
How can you not be happy that way?
While human interaction is extremely important, after about 50+ yrs on this Earth it doesn't seem like it would be completely necessary any more(if only for the fact that it was so regularly done habit would force you not to be able to live in solitude)

yes it can be done and if you aer happy with yourself and have no regrets to ponder over then you can live that way and be happy.
The truth is we all need human interaction but to " live among others " but have an inner solitude can be achieved if your human contact needs are lower than others. If that is the case then just knowing others are around is enough for you.

Yes. They're called anti-social.
Your question makes little sense to me. Why would anyone live in solitude when surrounded by people if they never had a bad experience with people?
If you live in solitude, it's probably because the people that surround you don't agree with your views, or you don't agree with theirs.
If one agrees with another person's views, how would they not connect with each other?
I just can't get myself to understand the part where you say "to shut people out, not because you had a bad experience, but just because a person wants to". Why would anyone shut people out if they haven't had a bad experience with people?
Is it because that person has also never had a good experience? Well, that's bad. Is it that the person had so many little bad experiences, that went un-noticed, but subconsciously made them want to shut people out?
I guess the answer in my opinion, based on your reasoning, is no.
I'm sure there are lots of people who are happy being alone, but I'm sure it's because there is no one that they have met who thinks on the same level as they, so being alone is better than being with people who's thoughts collide.

Of course. Many hermits live happily in solitude and many people don't like the company of others.

Anyone can live in solitude within themselves. It depends how much isolation they want to be in. I for one, wouldn't want complete solitude within my inner self. I prefer to live amongst people and not in my shell.
As far as being happy living in solitude? Maybe for them, themselves. Who would they be happy with? Their inner self? I would find it rather boring and undesirable to live in such a state of mind.

I presume the hermits can. In solitude they can contemplate life and other philosophical vignette to their hearts content. Unfortunately, doesn't work for me.
