If a US presidental candidate was to be elected President, but before he was sworn in, he resigned, would the elected Vice Presidental candidate become President? Since there is a delay between the election and the inauguration in January, this scenario could possibly happen.

The current president (lame duck) would finish his term and the Vice president would assume the presidency. Since this has never happened before, I'm sure someone would try to get a new election in progress.

Yes, the presidency passes to the vice president, pretty much no matter what. This was a big issue when Nixon resigned, and Ford, who Nixon appointed VP (and was never elected VP or Pres) took office. It seemed weird to make the new president someone who was appointed by the guy who cheated in an election to get into office, but that's the way it was.

Yes - that is exactly what would happen. Then the new President would appoint a new VP which would have to be confirmed by the Senate.

Yes. Cheney is worse than Bush. Democrats will not impeach Bush. They will simply pressure Bush to make serious domestic and foreign-wise changes.

Would it be hypothetical to say you are an idiot? There would be another election dummy!

If he resigns, I'd be a happy man.
Put Clinton back in.
