Hired on a a part time cashier once in a gas station and offered to turn in my resignation an hour later. Was hired as a cashier not a toilet cleaner, painter and a window washer. I worked as a cashier there for about 3 months and only as a cashier.

I have been a cashier in different places for almost 5 years while Iw as in school. It was alright back then. I do not know how I could find the patience to deal with the public all the time now. That,s why I try to be nice to all cashiers!!

I was a bank teller and I lasted five months. I hated it. I worked in a party store and part of my job was cashiering and I worked there for 23 years. I loved working there. As far as like a grocery store I would never make it. I work at Meijer and I see what they go through not only from customers but their co-workers and it ain't pretty!

I worked for Wal-Mart. I started out as a cashier and worked that for about a year. I was promoted after that......thank God! Christmas and cashiering is NOT fun!

Whether you stay a cashier depends on you. Just like any other job. If you like dealing with the public and can stand the pressure from the public as well as your peers, and the boss, it is a nice, usually clean job.

I was a cashier at Kmart for almost a year before I quit. I hated it...it wasn't worth the $6.50 an hour they paid me. My job now is MUCH better.

that was my first job. i worked as a cashier at a fabric store at age 15. i think i worked there a year
