There is no defined limit of terms in the United States congress. There is however an implication that over time the people or the government may want or need a new face with new ideas and a different perspective. If you can keep with the times, or retain the popular support of the people you are representing you can continue being re-elected over and over again.

No, there are no term limits in Congress. Case in point, Senator Ted Kennedy has been in Congress since the '60's.

There are no term limits in the House of Representatives or the Senate aside from being voted out of office.
