now, that there are more dem's in congress and they have ben bemoaning the deficit what programs are they going to cut?
it's a given they will attempt to raise taxes and eliminate a lot of other tax breaks.those measures won't do a lot without holding spending down.
remember congress approves the budget.

actually, they won't cut a whole lot... unless they cut spending for the war. their campaign was one of "create more social programs to spend the extra money that we will be taxing"

HA HA HA HA HA!!!

The difference, last year ALONE, between what was taken in, in taxes, and what was spent, was upwards of $570 billion. Closing that gap would require SHUTTING DOWN almost the entire Executive Branch, or ending the Iraq war AND shutting down major Departments in the Executive Branch, or raising taxes by about $1,900 per PERSON. If you think that raising taxes wouldn't be so bad, you ought to realize that the poor and homeless won't be paying their share. And a $7,600 tax increase for a family of four making $50,000 a year would wipe them out. So they won't be paying their share, either.

If they try to hold down spending and balance the budget, they'll put us into a deeper recession than the one we're in, right now. In fact, it could turn into a depression.

I expect that what they'll do will be to print up money AND increase spending. That'll send inflation through the roof (even higher than it already is), and set the country up for a hyper-inflationary spiral that will end up in a depression.

We're screwed, regardless of what they do.

Read CNN's recent article about Pelosi. She has the first 100 hours planned.

They might start by banking all the money that was spent for Bush's 6 months-at-a-time vacations. Then they will take a look at the other stuff. lol
