don't you think if he had booted rumsfeld a couple of months ago instead of acting like a stubborn boy the elections would have went a lot differently?

You pretty much said it all... if he would have gotten rid of Rumsfeld, and never ever gone into Iraq without finishing in Afghanistan first.. well, maybe there would be some left who believed in him. But he is a stubborn spoiled child and he brought that to the Whitehouse.. I AM THE DECIDER, I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS WHATS GOOD FOR AMERICA AND YOU WILL ALL DAMN WELL DO AS I SAY..'CAUSE I'M THE PRESIDENT.. maybe one of these days he will learn he is not God.

Well, on the surface things look pretty bleak for Republicans. Historically speaking, this is no surprise. However, it is not as bad as it seems!

History of mid-term elections: Any time the United States has been at war during a mid-term election, there has been a shift in power. The deaths from the war are never easy to take and as a whole, Americans do not have the stomach nor heart to endure continued losses, even for a good cause. This election's shift in power is no big surprise. However, there's a silver lining...

Several of the gains made by Democrats were by conservative democrats. Joe Lieberman, a registered and caucased Dem, ran against his own party's nominee as an independant... and WON! Joe is a conservative Dem that supports the cause of fighting terror. So if the war in Iraq is the cause for the shift in power, why were conservatives elected? While a majority of Americans feel things are going wrong in Iraq, they still understand the reason we are there. We are NOT supporting the Dem's idea of passing the baton of victory to the terrorists, but instead, want to be open-minded that we need a new strategy that will better ensure victory.

Another gleeming hope for Republicans is the fact that referendums this election tend to favor conservatism. Several states banned same sex marriage. One state banned abortion. Basically, while there was a cry for change in power, a majority of Americans still cling to conservative views.

Watch for Joe Lieberman to rally other Conservative Dems in the Senate. Should the VA seat fold to a Dem, the control they hoped for is still not locked. Joe and a handfull of Conservative Dems will still swing a good deal of power to the President on issues of the war on terrorism.

What you don't realize is that Bush hardly the first president (republiclan or DEMOCRAT) to lose seats in his sixth year. Clinton lost the majority is his second year as president, and never regained the majority. And even before that, the "sixth year" itch has affected many presidents!!! So maybe you should stop blaiming the president for everything that goes wrong, whether it be within his own party or abroad.
Ahem... who lost the elections two years ago?

not necessarily...you Democrats are not a real bright group. Once you think someone is wrong you will not even listen to alternatives...you are the stubborn ones, that usually act like spoiled children...whining & crying!! trying anything to get out of working. You have no concept of working together for a greater good.

No, I don't. The election was a referendum on Bush, not Rumsfeld.

If he dumped Rumsfeld during the campaign, Dems would be complaining and calling it all a campaign tactic and conspiracy , anyhow.

How come you Demos are so smug? Are we not ONE NATION UNDER GOD?

The Democrats need to quit slinging crap and do what they've promised to do. Bear in mind that GW still has two more years in office.
